Meditation Begins With Mmm

Here’s something I like to do most mornings, most evenings, and even sometimes during the middle of the day. I tend to do it in bed, because it’s the most comfortable place, however I’m quite happy to do it on the sofa. If I can’t find anywhere more private, I’ve been know to do it in a parked car. It’s become second nature and I couldn’t possibly going a day without doing it. In fact I often absent-mindedly allow myself to do it, whenever the opportunity arrises. Something beginning with mmm...
The most memorable places I’ve done it is listening to the waves crash on the beach, in soft moss while resting on a boulder among tall trees in the woods, on a dramatic but exhilarating cliff edge (I kept my eyes open during that one). Naturally, I’ve done it so many times on a plane, I’ve lost count.. In truth, I don’t think I’ve recently traveled on a plane or a train without missing the opportunity of doing a really nice long one.
If you haven’t been doing it recently, and you’re out of practice, I suggest you get straight back to it, because you’ll soon get the hang of it again. The benefits are numerous, and you will automatically feel an improvement, even after the first time. Give it a go, even if you’re feeling a bit rusty, and a bit awkward. The truth is, it really is like a muscle; the more you do it, the easier it gets.
I’ve made a habit of doing it for many more years than I care to remember, so admittedly, I’m quite good at it. I know that people tell me when life gets a bit hectic, they don’t do it so much, but that’s exactly the time when you need to do it as much as possible. Don't put it off and wait until the weekend, or when you think you will have enough time. It doesn’t work like that, it shouldn’t be something you put off, ever. Although that said, when you do actually have a spare bit of time on your hands, it's ever so delightful to set the scene, and indulge in an extra special long one. Even if you don’t feel quite so connected or energised and you don’t feel much like doing it, this is when it’s most important to get going again. It really is a question of the more you do it, the easier and the better it gets.
I’m so passionate about doing this, and I’m so convinced of its healing benefits, that I make it my priority to help other people so that they can do it for themselves. Although I’m not always convinced it can be something you teach because we all get there slightly differently so I’ll say guide instead. Once I’ve shown you how, I’m sure you will soon be doing it as often as me. Things just seem so much better once you’ve done it. Everything seems clearer and brighter. Making this your daily practice will get help you reach a much higher state of self awareness, and that’s where the magic begins.
The benefits are numerous -
Improved circulation and oxygen dispersal
Bright eyes
Glowing skin and hair
Regulated nervous system
Decreased symptoms of stress
Greater awareness of your heart
Heightened self awareness
A sense of peace and calm
Improved concentration
Increased patience
The best thing is, although it’s awesome to do it alone, it’s really comforting to do it with someone else at the same time and mind-blowing when you come together as a group.
If you get really good at it, you can actually reduce your cravings for sugar, carbs and alcohol... It can definitely help you get a good night’s sleep. It increases your ability to feel gratitude, satisfaction and contentment.
I know a lot of people like to get it over and done with in ten minutes flat, but try if you can possibly can, to stretch it out a bit longer, and don’t be in such a rush. The benefits are numerous, and you might even achieve a state of pure blissful ecstasy, and experience such an incredible awakening of cosmic consciousness, stillness and inner peace that getting back there can be as tantalisingly rare as a beautiful butterfly settling on your nose.
Some people like to focus on their breathing and that’s a great way to begin. Some people stick to the same technique to get them there, others like a different route each time to keep things interesting. Others, including me, sometimes enjoy getting some professional guidance, a bit like a busman’s holiday.
If you do it with others, remember that some people can get quite noisy, sighing, humming and repetitively chanting. For others, it just puts them off, so you have to find the way that suits you best. Some people do it to music, others prefer complete silence or using a helpful audio.
Ultimately, incorporating this into your daily routine will have a positive impact on the rest of your life choices because you will approach decisions with a more balanced and calm heart. You will find a much greater equanimity in your thinking; therefore all your relationships and everything you do will be improved. Why not imagine me getting into one right now, if it helps. I probably am anyway, or I’ve just finished one. Just imagine right now, all around the world, beautiful souls sharing the frequency and vibrating in cosmic unity. Doesn’t it make you want to join in too?
Something beginning with Mmm Meditation.
The ancient practice of stillness. Of meeting yourself — not to fix or fight, but to feel.
In our over-stimulated, over-scheduled, over-explained lives, meditation is the homecoming ritual we’ve all forgotten how to honour. It’s the quiet doorway back to your breath, your body, and your inner knowing.
So many of us avoid it because we think we’re doing it wrong. Because the silence feels awkward. Because we’re afraid of what we might meet in the stillness. But that discomfort? That’s the gold. That’s where the healing begins.
Meditation is more than just a wellness trend or morning routine.
It’s emotional regulation. It’s nervous system healing.
It’s trauma integration.
It’s spiritual hygiene.
And once it becomes part of your daily life, the benefits begin to ripple outward:
– Reduced anxiety and overthinking
– Improved sleep and energy
– Sharper focus and emotional clarity
– Regulated blood pressure and breathing
– Greater patience, compassion, and resilience
– A felt sense of presence in your relationships
– Increased gratitude, ease, and inner peace
You don’t need to sit cross-legged on a cushion for an hour. You just need to begin.
Breathe.
Listen.
Stay.
Real healing doesn’t always come in dramatic breakthroughs. Sometimes it begins with a quiet inhale. A moment of stillness. A whisper in the dark that says, “You are still here. And that is enough.”
If something stirred while reading this…If part of you whispered yes or that’s me —
Then begin here:
