What Is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy supports the parts of you that had to adapt early in life in order to survive — especially the younger emotional parts shaped by experiences of inconsistency, neglect, or overwhelm.

When experiences feel unsafe or emotionally unsupported — particularly in childhood — the nervous system stores those moments in the body. Years later, this can show up as:

• chronic anxiety or hypervigilance
• emotional shutdown or numbness
• people-pleasing and self-abandonment
• relationship struggles or attachment wounds
• exhaustion and burnout
• feeling “too much” or “not enough”
• repeating the same painful relational patterns

This is why trauma healing often includes inner child work — supporting the nervous system to update responses that once made sense, but no longer feel safe or sustainable.
